What's everyone saying?
It was a delightful way to start the day. Delicious & satisfying.
Great recipe, filling,and flavorful.
Great recipe! 5 stars for it being so easy to make and for it having a good flavor. I used 1/4 cup liquid pasteurized eggs instead of a whole egg (for less phosphorus) and it turned out fine. I think next time I would use vanilla almond milk instead of plain to add a little sweetness. I let several people taste test this recipe and it went over well. Thanks for this easy tasty recipe!
33 g carbs is not great for diabetics. Dietitian comment: It depends on your individual goal for carbohydrates. Most people would have this as their complete breakfast without adding other carb-containing foods.
This is surprisingly delicious! I used same measurements but used creme of rice instead
775kookkook I am a newbie to CKD, and this dish is great for camping, as well as at home.
Awesome
What would the difference in Potassium be if I use Steel Oats? Dietitian comment? It should be similar since the difference is the oatmeal cut.
Why does the comment to AnnPriest by the nutritionist have two [INVALID]s in it. What does that mean. Thanks for getting back to me on this.... PattieH Dietitian comment: The system automatically adds the [INVALID] when certain characters are used. I am unable to go back to delete them.
I am wondering if I could use Horchatta instead of Almond Milk? Dietitian comment: Yes--check the ingredient list to find a brand that does not contain phosphate additives.
Very helpful information
Is oatmeal and almond milk on renal diet? Dietitian comment: There are several almond milks on the market that do not contain phosphate additives and are much lower in potassium and phosphorus compared to milk. However many are high in calcium and some people need to limit calcium if levels are high. Oatmeal is higher in phosphorus and potassium compared to refined grains, but only about 50% of the phosphorus is absorbed[INVALID]the rest is bound and indigestible. Most people can include oatmeal several times a week and still maintain normal phosphorus and potassium values. We encourage you to work with your dietitian to monitor individual [INVALID].
Great for on-the-go meal for an early appointment!
